I was thinking about this issue recently. What are your beliefs about the endtimes? What do you think will happen? When do you think it will happen? Give me your thoughts for a chance to win Shiloh Walker's Hunting the Hunter.
Contest will end Thursday, January 22nd at 11:59 eastern time.
First of all, I don't believe in heaven and hell.
ReplyDeleteBut I do believe that you can see the people you loved and who've already died when you're dying yourself.
I think our spirits or souls or whatever you call stay on earth to watch over the ones we love.
That results for example in someone taking another route to his job (without having a reason). To hear afterwards that there was a huge accident with a lot of dead people on his usual route.
But I'm curious... What do you believe?
I am more science based then I am astrological (is that right??? mythical maybe?). I believe more in an asteroid hitting earth or global warming causing another ice age, etc. Are you referring to the Mayan calendar when you ask this?
ReplyDeleteAs a pagan I believe in reincarnation and summerland. I don't believe in a heaven/hell concept. I see the hereafter as what each of us believe it will be. And that we always get what's coming to us there or here when we come back. If you do good you will get good and if you do bad you will get bad.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe the world is just going to up and end. Barring some outside force the earth and us should be okay if we learn to take care of her and give her the respect she deserves. She does feed and house us. : )

I'm not sure what I believe. It all gets so confusing. That's why I was curious as to what other people's beliefs are.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you ask about the Mayan calendar. I work at a public library and we had a patron who was interested in the Mayans just last week. What do the Mayans have to say about the end of the world?
Deidre
i belive we are reincarnationed and some special people get to remember their past lives
ReplyDelete"first forecast by José Argüelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about December 21, 2012, a forecast that mainstream Mayanist scholars consider a misinterpretation, yet is commonly referenced in pop-culture media as the 2012 problem." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayan_calendar
ReplyDeleteBasically a lot of people are saying/thinking that the Mayan calendar runs out on December 21, 2012. They believe that it is the end of the world.
It is my belief that when I pass on my spirit will (if I am worthy) go to join that of my ancestors, and my body will remain to feed the earth while I watched over those I’ve left behind.
ReplyDeleteI believe in heaven and hell and I do believe in the end times, it will be total chaos. I do believe in angels that watch over people and I know my loved ones are watching over me.
ReplyDeleteI believe in heaven and hell and that our spirits go to either one or the other when out time ends. As for the general endtime of the world, I try not to think about it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do enjoy watching the Apocalypse shows on the History channel and the variety of ways scientists and others are speculating on how humanity will die out, along with the possible destruction of the Earth. There are a lot of really interesting speculations, including gamma ray incineration.
I believe in Heaven, Hell, the Bible, God as my Creator and Jesus as my Savior, and I am not ashamed to say so! And Yes, I believe in the end times and I believe they will be in my lifetime. I don't know if the year will be 2012 although there are some interesting arguments for that. No one knows the date or hour (Matthew 24, any Bible), but we can know the seasons/signs. So much of the Bible has already proven true (see: Evidence that Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell and Bible Archaeology) and so many of the signs of the season of the end times are now here that were not 60 years ago. (Importance of Prophecy by David Reagan.) I am not afraid as I know that I have victory and eternal life waiting for me no matter what I have to face here on earth.
ReplyDeleteDeidre,
ReplyDeleteI believe that if I am alive when the 'end of time' comes, then there's not a whole lot I can do about it. If the end comes and I go with it, then I hope I'm gone in the blink of an eye. So there's not much I can do except live my life with joy to the fullest. If the end comes and there are survivors, then I will pray for strength to see the new day and all it brings.
I have a friend who used to believe that the end of days was to come in 1981. She, as well as others, were all psyched up about it. I had the same attitude then, and I was 17. I'm sure that when the Bubonc Plague hit Europe, the people then thought it was the end and they were being punished. I wouldn't be surprised if victims of the Holocaust thought the same thing. And the horror of living through human atrocities and natural disasters can seem like the end of the world to the generations going through it. But there's not much I can do about it, except pray that my child will not have to suffer so. But if the day comes when suffering and the end of days come, then I pray for strength. Meanwhile, I take each day as it comes. Every day that I wake up is a joyous day.

P.S. I Looooove your Gothic house. It's my dream home!
Personally, I do not believe in heaven or hell. In my personal belief system, when you die you are taken a place similar to the Summerlands to await being reincarnated. I also believe that within each lifetime we have certain lessons that we are supposed to learn. It may take multiple lifetimes to learn any given lesson depending on how stubborn your spirit is.
ReplyDeleteOnce a spirit has learned all of the necessary lessons, I believe that they become a type of guardian angel, able to watch over the spirits of those they've met in previous lifetimes. They exist at that point to help guide and protect the ones they love.
But then again, the essence of my belief system is simply that, belief. In my personal views, if someone truly believes something strong enough, it's real. If a person really, truly believes in the existence of heaven and hell, then when they die... it's real, for them.
It may sound confusing, but it all makes perfect sense in my head.
Oh, and I'm new to this blog, just found it randomly today. So, hello.
It depends on what you are referring to. The end of individual life or the end of the world. As an individual, I believe you die you go to heaven, hell or are trapped on earth. I don't believe in reincarnation. Being religious, I should not believe in trapped spirits but they are real and spoken of in the Bible in one manner or another. Also, I have had contact with spirits so I have to believe in them.
ReplyDeleteThe world as a whole will probably end through our own sheer stupidity. One country or another will push the button and the next thing you know, we will be bombing each other. It will happen so fast, no one will have any time to prepare. You will just end. Who knows, it may happen sooner then we think.
I believe in God and therefore I believe in Heaven and Hell. I believe in the end times and I believe God will judge us for our sins. I believe that the Earth will end in fire as it says in the bible. I don't know if that will be bombs or an asteroid that hits the Earth or one of many other things that could happen. I just know it will happen.
ReplyDeleteGreat question. I'm open to any possibility. I personally like the idea if reincarnation - if you don't get it right you keep coming back until you do. I too watch the history and discovery channel a lot and there are about a dozen good theories on how the world could end. I do think the earth is going to go on for quite a while - humans, probably not. I believe there are a lot of other species out there and we are not alone. I don't believe in organized religion - seems to me anything man has a say in they tend to screw up. Humans want answers and if they don't have them, they'll make it up. I think the best each of us can do is live every day as if it were our last (not easy to do) and it's within all of us to be godlike.
